About Me
Although trained as a writer, I'm inspired and energized by the Internet's pulse: Walking the street, I find myself fighting not to take out the iPhone and snap pics of random advertisements and urban wildlife, sending them off on Instagram to provoke a conversation. (Why can't I just live?!) Sometimes pictures just add that little boost. I often think a story cries out for a slideshow, an info-graphic, a video...
Don't get me wrong: Writing is my first love. But rapidly evolving methods of communication have changed the way people digest media, and we have to adapt. Through self-exploration and formal guidance, I've taken on the mediums of photography, design, video and social networking.
Did I mention that I love to write about food? As a digital food reporter at the Arizona Daily Star, I cover Tucson's eclectic and rapidly-evolving dining scene. This growing city of over a million people boasts an array of innovative chefs, a thriving downtown restaurant district and some of the best Mexican food in the country. Fertile soils and long growing seasons also make Southern Arizona a prime habitat for a host of wineries and organic farms. As a reporter, I cover all these aspects and more by producing weekly videos, photo slideshows and longform writing.
Anyway, check out the site! I'd love to show you more, or speak of future opportunities over a nice cold glass of seaweed and pearl barley:
